Rossatz

Grüner Veltliner Federspiel

Our base wine - the flagship of the Frischengruber house!

One of our most important wines, as it represents our signature in the world of wine. The grapes come from various vineyards in Rossatz, resulting in different harvest times. With 12% alcohol, it remains pleasantly light, while its taut acidity and elegant body provide tension. One part is fermented cool with cultured yeasts, another spontaneously, to preserve a complex aromatic profile. It reaches its perfection in March when it is bottled – ready to delight connoisseurs with its freshness and finesse.

Terroir Rossatz

Diverse Soils as the Foundation for Mineral Wines

The Rossatz vineyards are characterized by a diverse soil structure that provides ideal conditions for viticulture. The soils consist of a mixture of Danube gravel, loess, sand, and gneiss. The Danube gravel ensures good drainage, while the loess, a fine-grained, calcareous sediment, provides nutrients and supports water retention. Sand gives the soil a loose structure that promotes aeration, while gneiss, a metamorphic rock, contributes mineral elements and adds to the sparse nature of the soil.
